Pregnant during COVID-19?

This is truly a terrifying time for the entire world. The coronavirus is everywhere, on all our social media pages, it's every headline on every newspaper and magazine. The media is obsessed with COVID-19 and so are we. We can't log onto Facebook or Instagram or any of our favorite social media sites without being bombarded with all things coronavirus. We get it, we need to wash our hands throughly for at least 20 seconds, we need to use antibacterial hand sanitizer (if we can find it!), we need to worry about social distancing and Sheltering at Home orders by the government. All the while the entire world around us is freaking out, hoarding the toilet paper and hand sanitizer, we see articles of hospitals begging people to drop off their face masks and sanitizing solutions. And now, our hospitals are telling us we can only have one support person with us during our birthing, which means that those of us who have hired a birth doula are out of luck; we now have to choose between our trained doula and our partner.
This is just not fair! But at the same time, we understand that a pandemic of this sort is not anything most of us have ever experienced in our lives. So we err on the side of caution, we listen to the government and medical professionals, we quarantine ourselves in our homes and we avoid any unnecessary contact with the outside world.

But expectant families are facing some very real dilemmas. Not only have we lost the ability to bring our trusted birth doula into our birthing spaces in the hospital, but we have lost our chances to take all of those necessary birthing and parenting classes that we were looking forward to. Since we can't gather with other humans at this time, what are we to do? We can't turn to Facebook mom's groups for everything!

Thank goodness for platforms like Zoom and Google Hangouts, many birth and postpartum professionals and educators are creating virtual platforms to support pregnant families.
Here at Light in the Womb, we are offering Virtual HypnoBirthing classes, and a Virtual Preparing for the 4th Trimester class about bringing home baby and what to expect after you get home from the hospital and the weeks following your birth. We would love to hear from you! If we can help you along your journey in anyway, please reach out, we can schedule private consultations, can support you with private and group virtual classes, and even support you virtually during your birth and your postpartum time.
